IMAQ Launch:
The IMAQ executive hosted it's official launch on the 31st July 2010 at Michaels Restaurant in Brisbane.
The launch was attended by over 100 members and invited guests, including:
- the deputy mayor of Brisbane Councillor Graham Quirk
- the Hon Stephen Robertson MP (state member for Stretton and former Minister of Health)
- the Hon Graham Perrett MP (the Federal member for Moreton)
- and representatives from several community organisations, including IWAQ (Islamic Women's Association of Queensland), ICQ (Islamic Council of Queensland) and several Imams.
The evening was opened by a beautiful recitation of the Quran by Imam Imraan Hussein.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Associate Professor Dr Mohamad Abdalla, Director of the Griffith Islamic Research Unit, in Brisbane.
IMAQ founder and President, Dr Mohammed Iqbal Sultan introduced the Islamic Medical Association concept to all and spoke on IMAQ's aims and objectives and his vision for the future of the organisation.
Dr Yunus Solwa presented an overview and discussed the activities of other IMA's around the world.
Dr Muhammed Masroor Alam delivered the vote of thanks and the evening was concluded with a dua by Imam Yusuf Peer.

IMAQ Mackay Branch
Alhamdu-lillah at a very successful meeting at Masala Restaurant in Mackay on the 17th February, the Mackay Branch of IMAQ was launched.
The meeting was attended by 27 Muslim healthcare professionals, and Dr Rasheed Lawal was elected to chair the local branch, whilst Dr Rashid Hameed was nominated as the secretary.
