Dr. Fatima ashrafi, (MBBS, FRANZCOG)
President

A venerable Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr. Ashrafi brings over two decades of experience to IMAQ, in global settings ranging from Bangladesh and Iran, to the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
Graduating from the University of Dhaka in 1980, she has been a sitting member on the Queensland Regional Committee for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) and continues to practice at Avicenna Health in Milton, Spring Hill and Sunnybank.
She also serves as the Queensland Vice President of the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA).

Dr. omer shareef

Dr. Shareef is an experienced consultant Neuropsychiatrist based in Townsville, in far north Queensland. A key regional representative, he joins the central executive in 2022 as IMAQ's new Vice-President.
He also serves as an executive member of the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA).

Dr. Muhammad AShRAF (MBBS, FRACS)

Dr. Ashraf is an experienced General Surgeon and an Endoscopist, having trained extensively in South Africa and Australia after obtaining his MBBS in Pakistan in 1991. He worked at the Mackay Base Hospital from 2003 till 2018, and privately as the Practice Principal of the Mackay Surgical Group since 2010.
He is also extensively involved in his local community, sitting on the Mackay Masjid committee and spearheading many local initiatives over the years, including blood donation and Lifestart programs.
He has a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery, a cricket supporter, and in his spare time, can be found spending time with his family and gardening.
He also serves as the Secretary of the Australian Islamic Medical Association.

Graduating from the University of Punjab in 1993, Dr. Majid practices as a General Practitioner in Ipswich, at the Riverlink Medical and Dental Centre. He practiced in South Africa, and the Middle East before settling in Australia in 2004.
Dr. Majid's special areas of interest include chronic disease management, diabetes, minor surgery, and occupational health and medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Majid can be found traveling and spending time with his family.
He also serves as the General Secretary of AIMA for Queensland.

Dr. Salih ibn mohamed (MD)

Dr. Salih is a junior doctor, completing his Junior House Officer (JHO) year in 2022 at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Brisbane, having done his medical schooling in Brisbane and Toowoomba at the University of Queensland.
His interests lie primarily in critical care medicine, and has a passion for teaching. In his spare time, he can often be found deep into fantasy novels.

dr. Omer Mohammed Ali (MBBS, FACEM)
LIFESAVER PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Dr Ali is an experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant, having served in metro and regional settings across Australia.
He is our Lifesaver Program coordinator - which aims to teach CPR and First Aid Skills at Queensland's Masjids, based on the British program of the same name.
